    Hello Impervians! 

    For today's #ImpervaInsights we are sharing with you a common On-Prem question our Support team receives. 

    How do you reset an Imperva GW user to default password? (For versions 12.0 and above.)

    What do our product experts have to say?

    1. Connect to the Gateway via SSH using root user

    2. Stop GW
    #impctl gateway stop

    3. Change "Imperva" user password 
    #impctl gateway password config --password=XXXXXX


    4. Restart the GW
    #impctl gateway restart

    5. After restarting, check the gateway to make sure it's in running state
    #impctl status

    [root@GW~]#impctl status
    gateway                registered, running
    watchdog              running


    NOTE: You will need to re-register all agents and type in the new password.

    Hi Christopher,

    I am unable to login as admin/ root user, forgot password. With SSH, only login as: is appearing. Kindly advise.

    You Can reset admin password by login root user, 

    in case if you loss root user too, then you have to reset the password with Fedora ISO support.

    You cannot login to which one, GW or MX? If MX you can create a new SSH user with following this guide https://docs.imperva.com/bundle/z-kb-articles-km/page/e1178545.html
