Does anyone have experience when Data Classification Scan finishes with a warning and it says: Timeout Exception? I checked the connection with the database and it says successful connection.

    Hi Sabajete,

During a DB Data Classification Scan there are two types of timeouts.

    • Timeout when waiting for a single query
    • Timeout when waiting for a chunk of tables.

The timeout waiting for a chunk of tables is designed to fail if chunk of 200 tables are failing to complete in 10 minutes. This could leave some processes (PIDs) running on the database server.
You should contact Support to investigate logs and increase the timeouts or fix the issue.

    Hi Aleem,

I wonder if this article might help you? It walks through how to extend the Timeout Value for DB Classification Scans.

Extending the Timeout Value for DB Classification Scans

It also looks at How to reduce the run time of data classification policy?

Let me know if this helps.

    Thanks,

The change would be made on the MX.

FYI, gateways are not involved in the scanning process.  It is not uncommon for customers to have dedicated scanning MXs if they do a LOT of scanning.
