  • 1.  DB data Classification scan

    Posted 01-18-2024 07:34

    Hi,

We are going to perform a scan to discover some data and we have a series of doubts:

    1. We need to find a specific word in all DB tables, could we see what is the query that is running? We would like to know the query which is performed in the DB when running the scan.
    2. If DB is very big (imagine 1000 tables), is there a timeout on the process that interrupt it just in case its takes longer than defined? We are concerned that when performing the scan, the DB could crash or suffer any impact.

Thank you so much in advance,

    Pedro

    Hi Pedro,

Please find the answer to your question #2 below:

    • Classification results can be impacted by DB activity. Data being accessed during a scan may result in this information no being included in classification results. Subsequently it is recommended that classification scans be run while the database is idle.
    • The maximum column width for a database classification scan is 32,768 characters. Columns larger than this will not be scanned.
