  • 1.  Origin switching by url path

    Posted 10-14-2022 02:52
    I have a requirement to implement a similar feature that we have in akamai.  I need to be able to redirect via path to two different origins.  For example:

    www.example.com/products -> redirects to origin A

    www.example.com/solutions -> redirects to origin B

    I've seen the ability to do forwarding based on the path to a data center.  However it doesn't appear possible to have multiple origins under one site.

    Is this possible?

    Hi Michelle,

    First of all, can I check if you are referring to Cloud WAF or on-premise WAF?

    If it is Cloud WAF, you can follow this documentation to set multiple origin servers for a single data centre:
    https://docs.imperva.com/bundle/cloud-application-security/page/settings/load-balancing-settings.htm#MultipleOriginServersSingleDataCenter

    If you have multiple data centres, you will require the load balancing service. Then you should be able to follow the documentation below to set multiple origin servers.
    https://docs.imperva.com/bundle/cloud-application-security/page/settings/load-balancing-settings.htm

    Let me know if this helps.
    Thanks,

    Hi Samantha,

    We are using the cloud waf.  After relooking through the documentation, I think I found the setting I missed before.  This option below should allow me to use it for just the forwards.  Thanks for your assistance!

    Support only forward rules

    When selected, the data center is only used for requests according to a forwarding rule defined in the Delivery Rules page. For more details, see Create Rules. Note: There must be at least one data center that is not configured for forward rules.

    Hi Michelle,

    This is accomplished using Delivery Rules (incapRules) in combination with a Forward Only Data Center. You must be licensed for LoadBalancing to create a Forward Only Data Center.

    Please review the thread here: https://community.imperva.com/discussion/flexing-with-incaprules-1

    The first use case is what you're after.

    Thanks for the additional information.  I'm all set up based on information above and just waiting for my site to be switched to imperva (dns update).  Thanks!
